New Eyes!

In March of 2013, I was diagnosed with fast growing cataracts and I was losing my sight. These cataracts developed from the use of oral steroids.

Some many years ago, I became allergic to artificial sweeteners that caused me to have hives, and my body swelled to where I had trouble breathing. I even had patches of hives on my palms and the bottom of my feet, and it spread all over my body. It was the worse case anyone could have. The only way to combat it was to be injected with steroid shots and to take Benadryl along with a prescription antihistamine. I was put on a breathing machine for a short while as well.

Then years later, I had a eye doctor prescribe me a combined antibiotic/steroid drop that I used for a year... all this in-turn cause the cataracts to develop rapidly. I was losing my sight in my right eye. I stopped photographing as it was difficult to see. I think I was at my lowest at that point, not being able to enjoy my passion for photography.

So the only way to regain my vision was to go through the cataract surgery. However, I selected to have the Cyrstalens HD implants which requires a skilled surgeon to place these in the eyes after removing the natural lens that has been destroyed from the cataracts. The Cyrstalens are what is considered "accommodating" lens implants. This means the eyes will see at all distances seamlessly.

Since the surgery, my vision has improved. Today my world is much brighter, literally. Colors are bright and vivid. I see 20/15 which is better than 20/20 at the farthest distance. My reading range is still improving with practice in strengthening the eye muscles to make the implant lens bow to read without using reading glasses. The doctors say that it will take at least 6 months before I can see the full optimum use of the lenses.

Now that my vision is better, my photography is becoming more fined tuned. I anticipate my work will be much better than it ever has been in the past. I've removed most of the older photo images from my albums on my website, and replacing them with new images. So keep checking back and see what new images I've added.

To all those that have liked my work... Thank you for your support and encouragement! It is so greatly appreciated!

Visitors are welcome to sign my guestbook too.

Thank you!

Deb.
